The Houston-based Calliope String Quartet takes its inspiration from the Greek muse of eloquence and epic poetry, whose name itself translates to “beautifully-voiced” . Formed by recent graduates of the Shepherd and Moores Schools of Music, the quartet was drawn together by their mutual passion for chamber music and desire to explore the string quartet repertoire. Members of Calliope String Quartet can be seen performing with some of Houston’s leading arts organizations, such as the Houston Symphony, Houston Grand Opera, Mercury Orchestra, River Oaks Chamber Orchestra, and Da Camera,. The Calliope String Quartet has performed for a variety of audiences, including Italian Consulate of Houston, and is currently preparing for their first European tour, where they will perform in Slovenia and Austria as well as appear as faculty at the Musica Giovani Festival in Udine, Italy. They are dedicated teachers and wish to inspire young musicians through their instruction and performances. When they are not rehearsing, Annamarie, Hannah, Laura, and Leah also enjoy cooking, running, pilates, reading and watching movies together.
